Chile to implement 2026 summer time change in September
Chile is scheduled to transition to summer time in 2026. According to Decree No. 98, the time change will occur on the night of Saturday, September 5, 2026. At midnight, clocks will be advanced by 60 minutes, moving from 23:59 directly to 01:00 on Sunday, September 6.
This summer schedule, which utilizes the UTC-3 time zone, will remain in effect until the first Saturday of April 2027. The adjustment is intended to increase natural light availability during the afternoons.
The time change will not apply to the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica Region or the Aysén Region, both of which will maintain their permanent time zone. In Rapa Nui and Isla Salas y Gómez, the adjustment will also occur on September 5 but at a different time due to their specific geographic locations.
