Chile to implement summer time change in September
Chile will transition to summer time in September, according to Decree No. 98 from the Ministry of the Interior. The time change will take effect at the end of Saturday, September 5, 2026. At 23:59, clocks must be advanced by 60 minutes to 01:00 on Sunday, September 6.
This adjustment applies to most of the country, including Continental Chile and Western Insular Chile. In Rapa Nui and Isla Salas y Gómez, the change will occur between 22:00 and 23:00 on September 5. However, the Aysén, Magallanes, and Chilean Antarctic regions will maintain a permanent UTC-3 time zone and will not be affected by this change.
The decree also establishes the schedule for subsequent years, confirming that summer time will be applied between September 2027 and April 2028, and again between September 2028 and April 2029. Most internet-connected devices should update automatically, though manual adjustment may be required for analog devices.
