Chile university sector sees new leadership appointments

Rector Carlos Isaac of Universidad Viña del Mar was elected president of the Corporación de Universidades Privadas (CUP) for the 2026‑2028 term, with a refreshed board that includes rectors from Universidad Santo Tomás, Universidad de Las Américas, Universidad Central, Universidad Finis Terrae, UNIACC and Universidad Bernardo O’Higgins. Isaac pledged to represent private universities and improve Chile’s higher‑education system.

Separately, Universidad de Concepción rejoined the regional business forum IRAD, with its new rector Jacqueline Sepúlveda meeting ministers, former president Eduardo Frei and other officials. The university aims to strengthen collaboration with industry, attract resources, and contribute research and artistic innovation to the Biobío region’s development.
