Chile university leadership changes

In late July 2026, Chile’s higher‑education sector saw notable shifts in governance and collaboration. On July 25, Universidad de Tarapacá elected Jenniffer Peralta Montecinos as its first female rector, ending a 90‑year male‑only tradition and prompting local officials to highlight potential stronger ties between the university and municipal authorities. The same day, the University of Los Lagos signed a partnership with the Servicio de Salud Chiloé to link academic research with health‑service data for regional health challenges.

A week later, on July 31, further leadership moves were announced.
