Chile upgrades fire brigade equipment and facilities with multi‑billion peso investments

Fire brigades in Chile's O'Higgins region received eight new 4x4 multipurpose vehicles, funded by a regional government investment of more than 3.296 billion pesos. The vehicles replace aging units and are expected to improve response to roughly 6,780 annual emergencies in the municipalities of Olivar, Coltauco, Rengo, Peumo, Las Cabras, Santa Cruz, Marchigüe and Pichilemu. Regional fire president said, “we are very proud because we are in the final stage of this project…”.

In the Biobío region, a new two‑storey fire station for the Third Company was inaugurated in Altos del Laja, financed with over 1 000 million pesos from the regional government. Governor Sergio Giacaman highlighted the strategic importance of the building, noting, “we want them to have greater equipment and infrastructure”. The modern facility will serve 20 volunteer firefighters, whose main task is fighting forest fires.
