Chilean agencies announce irrigation funding and mining innovation initiatives
The National Irrigation Commission (CNR) has issued a call for water user organizations in the Atacama and Coquimbo regions to apply for the N.° 14-2026 contest. This initiative focuses on civil works exceeding UF 10,000, with a total of $600 million allocated to support the group of regions. The funding aims to improve water conduction, distribution, and management to reduce losses and enhance water security for agricultural communities facing climate challenges. Applications are open until October 26.
In the mining sector, the National Mining Company (ENAMI) has announced the preselected candidates for the second version of its Tantay Atacama® innovation program. Out of more than 150 submissions, 24 technological solutions were chosen to address specific challenges at the Vallenar, El Salado, and Manuel Antonio Matta plants. These challenges include operational safety through intelligent monitoring, digitalization of mining promotion requests, and real-time granulometry measurement systems in mills.
