Chilean agricultural authorities prepare for 2026-2027 season

Chilean agricultural authorities and industry guilds are coordinating efforts to prepare for the 2026-2027 fruit season. In Curicó, the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Migration Service held an information session for employers and producers regarding the legal requirements for hiring migrant workers. Officials emphasized that migrant labor is a vital component for harvesting, packaging, and processing activities within the fruit sector.

Simultaneously, the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) met with major export guilds, including Frutas de Chile and Fedefruta, to address upcoming sanitary and operational challenges. Discussions focused on market openings, new export requirements, and phytosanitary risks, such as the fruit fly. The SAG also introduced modernization initiatives, including a pilot program for plum management, to improve efficiency during high-demand periods.
