Chilean export and agricultural sector trends 2026

Overview

Chilean exports experienced significant growth throughout 2026. Between January and July, total exports rose by 15% to US$70.6 billion. According to the Undersecretariat of International Economic Relations (SUBREI), the mining sector accounted for 61.4% of these shipments, generating US$43.3 billion, including US$35.6 billion in copper and US$3.7 billion in lithium. Non-mining exports increased by 5.8% to US$27.2 billion, led by a record US$8.3 billion in food sector shipments sent to 147 markets.

Within the agricultural sector, fruit and vegetable agro-industrial exports reached US$2.271 billion through August, a 7% increase in value compared to the previous year. Although total export volume fell by 2% to 725,000 tons, specific sectors saw substantial value rises, such as dried fruits (up 26%) and frozen fruits and vegetables (up 13%). Notable increases were seen in homogenized pulps (439%) and frozen raspberries (63%). Key markets for these products include the United States (17%), Italy (16%), and Germany (9%).

Trade initiatives have focused on strengthening Latin American commercial ties. The AgroTrade & AgroNight Perú 2026 event facilitated discussions between Chilean and Peruvian representatives regarding agroexportation and plant genetics. Additionally, the Chile-Latam Bogotá 2026 Business Meeting, organized by ProChile, connected 32 Chilean companies with 61 buyers from nine Latin American markets, including Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, and Panama. This summit resulted in 250 business meetings with projected commercial opportunities exceeding US$14.5 million across sectors such as aquaculture, forestry, and packaging.
