Chilean biodiversity integration plan reaches 55% progress in Valparaíso

The Service of Biodiversity and Protected Areas (SBAP) and the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF) have reached a 55% progress rate in their regional coordination efforts in Valparaíso. This inter-institutional management is part of the 2026-2027 Regional Operational Continuity Plan, designed to ensure the seamless transfer of administration to the new SBAP by March 2027.

National Director Tomás Saratscheff Bosch stated that the process involves moving 110 protected areas—covering nearly a quarter of the national territory—along with their respective park rangers, vehicles, contracts, infrastructure, and legal commitments. The national plan focuses on six key axes: the transfer of personnel, assets, contracts, resources, procedures, and technical capacities.
