Chilean CNR opens irrigation funding for small farmers

The National Irrigation Commission (CNR) has announced that applications for its second small-scale agriculture competition will close on October 15. The national program has allocated 1,550 million pesos to fund projects related to irrigation technology, wells, and pumping systems associated with existing irrigation infrastructure.

The funding is available to individual applicants whose projects were not previously selected in the Special Small Agriculture Program. Eligible participants include both INDAP users and non-users, provided they meet specific criteria: non-INDAP users must demonstrate average annual income from related activities of 2,400 UF or less over the last three tax years, and the property size must not exceed 12 hectares of basic irrigation.

Agriculture official Rodrigo Bahamonde noted that this financing aligns with presidential and ministerial guidelines regarding water security for the benefit of farmers nationwide.
