Chilean companies face cybersecurity risks amid rapid AI adoption
Chile has seen a significant surge in artificial intelligence integration. Individual usage of tools like Claude is 84% higher than expected for its working-age population, ranking Chile among the top 35 users globally and second in Latin America.
In the corporate sector, the SONDA Tech Trends study shows that active AI use in Chilean companies rose from 16% to 88% within one year. However, this rapid adoption has outpaced governance; 53% of organizations only have general guidelines for use, and 8% have no strategy at all.
This gap creates new security vulnerabilities. Check Point Research reported in August 2026 that approximately one in 29 prompts sent to generative AI tools from business environments in Latin America carried a high risk of exposing sensitive information. The integration of AI agents and assistants into internal systems increases the attack surface, leading to potential data leaks and loss of control.
