Chilean Comptroller General budget to increase for 2027
The 2027 Budget Law proposal includes a significant increase in funding for Chile's Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR). The project allocates approximately $130,960 million to the agency led by Dorothy Pérez, representing a 5.9% increase over the 2026 budget base and an 11.7% nominal increase.
Key components of the budget include the hiring of 75 new staff members, bringing the total national workforce to 2,348 people. Personnel spending is expected to rise from $95,422 million in 2026 to roughly $103,408 million in 2027.
A major focus of the increase is technological advancement. Funding for computer programs is set to rise by 52.2%, from $2,468 million to $3,759 million. This includes $185 million for institutional subscriptions to advanced artificial intelligence models. These resources aim to enhance data crossing capabilities, which have previously been used to detect irregularities, such as public officials traveling abroad while on medical leave.
