Chilean educators focus on student wellbeing and inclusive learning
Academic and educational experts in Chile are focusing on the intersection of physical environments, social relationships, and inclusivity to improve student wellbeing.
At a conference held at the Universidad de La Serena, Dr. Mariavictoria Benavente from the Universidad de Concepción presented research on how school relationships impact adolescent subjective wellbeing. Her work is part of FONDECYT projects investigating models for promoting adolescent wellbeing and how physical classroom attributes enrich the student experience. The event encouraged interdisciplinary dialogue between psychology, education, and design.
In the sector of early childhood education, Fundación Integra is working to strengthen inclusive practices in the Maule region. Coordinator Constanza López emphasized that inclusion involves recognizing the singularity of every child, moving beyond medical diagnoses to address diverse needs through gender perspectives, interculturality, and universal access materials that support sensory exploration and communication.
