Chilean film ‘Il Cileno’ wins Best Performance at Locarno Film Festival

The Chilean film ‘Il Cileno’, directed by Sergio Castro San Martín, has received the Boccalino d’Oro award for Best Performance at the 79th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. The award was presented to actor Camilo Arancibia.

Based on Juan Cristóbal Guarello’s investigative book ‘Aldo Marín. Carne de cañón’, the film is a co-production between Chile, Italy, and Switzerland. Set in 1976, the story follows Aldo Orlando Marín Piñones, a Chilean revolutionary who escapes the military dictatorship and becomes involved with an anarchist cell in Italy.

The film is currently participating in international festivals as part of a campaign to represent Chile at the 2027 Academy Awards and Goya Awards.
