Chilean fruit industry focuses on logistics and mechanization
The Chilean fruit sector is preparing for significant operational shifts across different product lines. For the 2026-2027 cherry export season, logistics providers like Sitrans are prioritizing the strengthening of cold chain infrastructure. This includes enhancing the management of refrigerated containers, temperature monitoring, and pre-cooling processes to handle the high concentration of cargo during peak export windows.
Simultaneously, the nut industry is experiencing rapid growth. According to ODEPA, nut exports reached US$654.5 million during the 2025/26 season, marking a 93.7% increase in value and a 75% increase in volume compared to the previous year. This boom, driven largely by walnuts and hazelnuts, is prompting producers to adopt specialized harvesting machinery to improve efficiency and manage increasing production volumes.
