Chilean Ministry of National Assets auctions 159 state properties

Chile's Ministry of National Assets has launched the ‘Se Busca Dueño’ (Owner Wanted) initiative, a plan to auction off 159 state-owned properties nationwide that are currently abandoned, underutilized, or without public function. The program aims to stimulate regional investment, promote economic development, and improve neighborhood security by reclaiming deteriorating spaces.

The initial phase includes 37 properties, notably featuring three islands. These include Isla Sofía in the Los Ríos region, located near Valdivia, and two islands in Lago Blanco, Magallanes region: Isla Sin Nombre and Isla Arturo. The Magallanes region has a total of 17 properties prioritized for auction before the end of the year.

Other regions participating in the sale include Atacama, the Metropolitan Region, Coquimbo, and Los Lagos. The specific values for the properties will be determined by a Special Alienation Commission, and details are being uploaded progressively to the ministry's official bidding portal.
