Chilean Ministry of Public Works to invest 32 billion pesos in Los Ríos
The Chilean Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has announced an investment of over 32 billion pesos in the Los Ríos region as part of the ‘Plan Chile Despega’. The initiative includes 15 projects scheduled to begin materializing in 2027.
According to Ulises Rivera, the regional secretary of the MOP, these projects are expected to create 1,600 new jobs. This would increase the region's average monthly employment generated by the ministry from approximately 3,000 to 4,600 by the first quarter of 2027.
The Dirección de Vialidad will manage the majority of the works. Key infrastructure projects include asphalt resurfacing on several routes in Río Bueno, such as Crucero-Entrelagos (4.8 billion pesos), Chanco-Carimallín (3.2 billion pesos), and Carimallín-Rucatayo (2.685 billion pesos). Other planned improvements include the Los Maitenes-La Parrilla route and various road upgrades in La Unión.
