Chilean Ministry of the Environment opens heater exchange program
The Chilean Ministry of the Environment is conducting a heater replacement program in the communes of Maule, Talca, Coyhaique, and Osorno. The initiative allows residents to exchange their existing wood-burning stoves for more efficient heating options, such as pellet stoves or air conditioning units.
In Coyhaique and Osorno, participants can only opt for pellet stoves. Residents in Talca and Maule have the choice between pellet stoves and air conditioning equipment. To qualify, applicants must own the wood stove, have it currently installed and in use in their residence, and agree to hand over the old unit to the Ministry for destruction.
The application deadline is Thursday, October 22. Interested parties must apply through the official website, calefactores.mma.gob.cl, by creating an account and registering their current heating device. Some selected participants may be required to pay a co-payment depending on the specific terms of the call.
