Chilean National Assets Ministry announces land auction plans

The Chilean Ministry of National Assets is advancing plans to auction state-owned land for various development projects across different regions. In the Atacama region, the “Bahía Inglesa Florece” program, announced by Minister Catalina Parot, includes a master plan for 420.39 hectares of coastal land in Caldera. The project is divided into three stages for tourism and real estate development. While the initiative offers economic potential, local authorities, including Caldera Mayor Brunilda González, have expressed concerns regarding the lack of prior consultation with the municipality and the community, as well as insufficient local infrastructure.

In the Tarapacá region, Seremi Noelia Garrido presented the “Se busca dueño” fiscal property sales plan to the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC). The plan outlines projected auctions for 2027, including four industrial sites in Pozo Almonte, 21 agricultural plots in La Tirana, and two tourism-agricultural projects in Pica. Local business leaders have welcomed the coordination, noting that access to state land could stimulate regional investment and employment.
