Chilean Navy conducts search operations for missing vessel and victim

The Chilean Navy has launched an extensive search and rescue operation to locate the motorboat ‘Sea King II’, which lost contact on Sunday, October 18, in the Angostura Inglesa sector within the Puerto Edén jurisdiction. The Third Naval Zone has deployed several maritime units, including the Maritime Action Boat Casma and the LSR Kawesqar, to coordinate with local fishing vessels in the search efforts.

In a separate incident, search operations for a third victim of an avalanche at Laguna del Inca have been suspended due to adverse weather conditions and the risk of further avalanches. Despite the use of Zodiac boats and three underwater robots by the Navy, Carabineros, and the Army, the body has not yet been recovered. Authorities plan to resume the search on Thursday with increased equipment and additional personnel once the weather system passes.
