Chilean police detain suspects in operations across Coquimbo, Algarrobo and Concepción

In the coastal city of Coquimbo, six individuals were arrested after coordinated surveillance captured two men cutting locks at a bakery and later stealing a motorcycle helmet. The police chief, Juan Diego García, said the permanent coordination between municipal inspectors, the camera network and Carabineros “allows us to act promptly in incidents that affect the safety of our neighbors.”

A joint municipal‑Carabineros raid in the town of Algarrobo intercepted drug trafficking activity, seizing 101 g of marijuana, 46 g of coca paste, 10 g of cocaine, cash and related paraphernalia, and detaining five suspects with previous convictions for robbery, drug offenses and assaults.

In Concepción, authorities carried out a large‑scale operation to curb illegal street vending, removing more than 1.5 tonnes of fruit, vegetables, carts, tables and other equipment from the city centre. The seized items were taken to a landfill for disposal, and vendors were warned to prevent the re‑appearance of illegal stalls.
