Chilean police detain suspects in vehicle‑theft cases
Carabineros arrested a 25‑year‑old man in La Serena after a GPS device traced stolen accessories that had been taken from a parked vehicle at a Líder supermarket. The recovered items were valued at roughly 2.77 million Chilean pesos and the suspect was placed under judicial control.
In a separate operation in the Maule region, Carabineros seized a 36‑year‑old driver and a motor vehicle that was listed on a theft warrant issued on 25 February 2026 for a stolen car from San Bernardo. The vehicle was recovered and the driver, who has prior police records, was also handed over to the Ministry of Public.
Both individuals were taken into custody following investigations that relied on vehicle‑tracking checks and preventive patrols, underscoring ongoing police efforts to combat vehicle‑related crime in Chile.
