Chilean ports advance logistics innovation and regional hub strategies

Chile is advancing strategic initiatives to modernize its maritime and logistics sectors. The LogiRed 2026 International Congress, organized by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Corfo, Empresa Portuaria San Antonio, and Colsa, will gather global experts to discuss port innovation and the transition to “Logistics 5.0.” The event features international speakers from Germany, Argentina, Panama, and Mexico to address smart port trends and infrastructure needs.

In northern Chile, Empresa Portuaria Iquique (EPI) has introduced a Regional Logistics Policy for Tarapacá (2026-2040). This proposal aims to transform Iquique into a Pacific logistics hub by integrating port operations with “last mile” connectivity, the local airport, and the Zofri free trade zone. The initiative has received support from local authorities and productive sectors, focusing on economic integration and bioceanic corridors.
