Chilean ports strengthen trade links and security focus
Business leaders and diplomats are focusing on Chilean port infrastructure to bolster regional trade and security. In Arica, a delegation of entrepreneurs from Oruro, Bolivia, visited the port to inspect logistics infrastructure, including the Port Support Extension Zone (ZEAP) and the Antepuerto. The visit aims to strengthen commercial ties and leverage the Bioceanic Corridor to improve connectivity for Bolivian cargo in international markets.
Simultaneously, the U.S. Ambassador to Chile, Brandon Judd, conducted an official visit to the Port of Iquique in the Tarapacá Region. Discussions between the diplomatic mission and port officials centered on the port's strategic role in South American logistics and the increasing importance of bioceanic corridors. A key focus of the meeting was the need for enhanced operational security and international cooperation to combat transnational organized crime and smuggling within maritime supply chains.
