Chilean taxpayer recovers 3.2 million pesos after DEDECON intervention

María Bustamante, a 27-year-old medical technologist from Hijuelas, has successfully recovered a tax refund of more than 3.2 million pesos following an intervention by the Taxpayer Defender (DEDECON).

The refund, part of the 2026 tax season, had been withheld by the Internal Revenue Service (SII) due to discrepancies identified by codes F75 and F157. These observations were linked to information provided by her former employer, who refused to assist in resolving the issue after Bustamante's initial attempts to settle the matter through the SII and her previous boss failed.

Bustamante sought assistance from DEDECON, a free public agency that defends taxpayer rights. After reviewing the case, the specialized team verified the accuracy of the fees and withholdings declared by the taxpayer, leading to the release of the funds.
