Chilean universities expand regional research and sustainability networks
The Universidad Católica de Temuco (UCT) has officially joined the UNESCO IESALC Network of Rectors for Sustainability. Following participation in the Sustainable University Leadership and Governance Program, Rector Marcela Momberg Alarcón signed the commitment to integrate the network. This move aims to strengthen institutional management, research, and collaboration with other higher education institutions across Latin America and the Caribbean in alignment with the 2030 Agenda.
In a separate development, CEDEUS has launched as a National Center of Interest (CIN) through ANID in the Biobío Region. After 13 years of research, the center is decentralizing its operations by incorporating the Universidad de Concepción as a sponsoring institution. The Universidad de La Frontera and the Universidad Austral de Chile are also participating as associated institutions, aiming to strengthen territorial links and regional research impact.
