Chilean university research and sustainability initiatives
Overview
Chilean universities are expanding their involvement in regional research, sustainability networks, and strategic technological roadmaps.
The Universidad Católica del Norte is advancing its Science, Technology, and Innovation (CTCI) Roadmap through the Natural Ocean Laboratory Node Center-North. This initiative, funded by the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID), seeks to coordinate various actors to produce knowledge for public policy and technological development in north-central Chile.
Concurrently, the Universidad Católica de Temuco has joined the UNESCO IESALC Network of Rectors for Sustainability to strengthen institutional management and regional collaboration. Additionally, CEDEUS has launched as a National Center of Interest (CIN) in the Biobío Region, decentralizing its operations through partnerships with the Universidad de Concepción, the Universidad de La Frontera, and the Universidad Austral de Chile to increase regional research impact.
