Chilean workers and pensioners receive varying Fiestas Patrias benefits

Data regarding the upcoming Chilean Independence Day (Fiestas Patrias) celebrations shows varying levels of financial benefits for workers and pensioners. According to a Randstad survey, 57% of workers in Chile are expected to receive a traditional 'aguinaldo' bonus from their employers, a 3 percentage point decrease compared to the previous year.

Among those receiving the bonus, 34% will receive more than $90,000, while 37% will receive between $50,000 and $90,000. Approximately 29% will receive less than $50,000. For the 43% of professionals not receiving a bonus, reasons cited include company policy, lack of budget, or the current economic climate. Some companies are opting for non-monetary alternatives such as gift cards, traditional food boxes, or time off.

In the public sector, more than 31,000 pensioners will receive a government-mandated 'Aguinaldo de Fiestas Patrias' of $25,280 per person. For those with registered dependents, the amount increases by $12,969 per person. Additionally, over 6,000 individuals will see an increase in their Universal Guaranteed Pension (PGU) to $250,275.
