Chile's Carabineros send 20 trainee officers to Tarapacá and Linares

A contingent of 20 Carabineros cadets from the Santiago and Arica training schools arrived in Tarapacá to begin their mandatory practical training. The trainees were immediately integrated into patrols in Iquique and Alto Hospicio, reinforcing police presence in commercial districts and residential areas with high complaint rates. They operate under close supervision by veteran officers while they complete field evaluations. One cadet noted, "Hay una planificación y una organización por parte de la Escuela de Formación Policial" and expressed hopes to apply their training in the region.

In Linares, the Carabineros prefecture welcomed another group of 20 officer aspirants. Over several days the cadets traveled across local communes, held interviews, radio and TV segments, and spoke with residents to explain the recruitment process, selection stages, and career opportunities in the force. The outreach aims to inform the community and encourage youth participation in public safety. After the visits, the aspirants will be assigned to units within the Linares jurisdiction to continue their formation and community engagement.
