Chile's CNR announces $300 million for Nature-Based Solutions
The National Irrigation Commission (CNR), under the Ministry of Agriculture, held a technical seminar in Río Bueno to detail the first national competition for “Nature-Based Solutions (SbN)” (N° 24-2026). The initiative provides $300 million in bonuses under the Irrigation Law to fund projects such as biofactories, fog catchers, soil conservation, and natural aquifer recharge. These measures aim to enhance water security and climate change adaptation.
Technical and legal guidance was provided by CNR representatives to assist farmers and consultants in project formulation. Inquiries regarding the competition rules are accepted until October 15. Applications must be submitted digitally via the institution’s Electronic Application System (SEP) between October 30 and December 3, 2026. The event also included knowledge sharing on agroecological practices, such as the production of biofertilizers and natural compost.
