Chile's Energy Ministry launches Human Capital Office to support renewable transition

Energy Minister Ximena Rincón convened the “Human Capital in Energy” round‑table, bringing together more than 60 industry, academic and public‑sector leaders. The meeting introduced a new Office of Human Capital and Gender Equity within the ministry and highlighted coordinated policies across education, labour and energy.

The ministry estimates that Chile will need between 12,000 and 27,000 new energy‑sector workers in the next decade, emphasizing technical‑professional and university‑level profiles. As part of the 2026‑2030 Energy Roadmap, the ministry commits to training and certifying 1,000 people, with at least 50 % women, to meet these workforce demands and improve gender equity in the sector.
