Chile's Los Ríos region records 11.8% drop in major crimes

The Los Ríos region in Chile reported an 11.8% decline in Delitos de Mayor Connotación Social (DMCS) during the first 21 weeks of the year, according to the latest STOP (Sistema Táctico de Operación Policial) session held in Río Bueno. Authorities counted 2,924 DMCS cases, 393 fewer than the same period last year, aligning with the historical trend of the past five years.

During the meeting, officials identified the most common crimes by commune—robbery in inhabited places in Valdivia, non‑inhabited place robbery in Los Lagos, general robbery in La Unión, injuries in Río Bueno, and thefts in Panguipulli—and agreed on targeted actions. Planned measures include reinforced preventive patrols, extraordinary police services, inspections, self‑care campaigns, investigations by the Police Investigation Section, mixed patrols and community integration office activities, all aimed at further reducing crime and improving public perception of safety.
