Chile's Mining Ministry Meets Small-Scale Miners to Discuss ENAMI Modernization

Chile's Deputy Minister of Economy and Mining, Daniel Mas, held a meeting in Paipote with representatives from mining associations in the Atacama region, including Chañaral, Copiapó, Tierra Amarilla, Diego de Almagro, El Salado, Inca de Oro, Vallenar and Freirina. The discussion focused on the strategic planning needed by ENAMI's new board for the 2026‑2030 period to modernize facilities, reduce debt, and revive the state company's original mandate of supporting small‑scale miners.

Mas, the undersecretary of mining Álvaro González, ENAMI executive vice‑president Juan Carlos Sáez, and regional delegate Sofía Cid listened to concerns about production capacity, operational continuity at the historic El Salado plant, and the need for regular on‑site oversight. The officials emphasized that the board will prioritize upgrading processing plants and strengthening ENAMI’s role in fostering mining development.

The meeting was part of the first field session of ENAMI’s new board, aiming to align the company's strategic objectives with the expectations of local producers and improve overall productivity.
