Chile’s Ministry of Culture unveils 2027 Fondos Cultura funding scheme

The Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage in Chile launched the redesigned Fondos Cultura 2027 program, part of the Plan Cultura Transparente. The redesign aims to make public funds for cultural projects more efficient and impactful, prioritising access, audience reach and the development of young talent.

The new edition adds several lines and modalities, including Barrios Creativos, Culturas Tradicionales, and dedicated youth‑talent streams in the performing‑arts and music funds. It also introduces regional initiatives such as a special Tarapacá line for the Naval Heritage Route commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Iquique.

Applications opened with staggered deadlines, the earliest for the Chile Crea scholarships and the Fondo del Libro y la Lectura, and the final closing date set for 10 September. Officials highlighted the focus on innovation, including the use of new technologies in artistic creation.
