Chile's Ministry of Cultures funds regional theater tours and free senior show

The Ministry of Cultures, the Arts and Heritage is supporting two separate performing‑arts initiatives in Chile. The company Alma Reina Teatro will present its adaptation of Hernán Rivera Letelier’s novel “La Contadora” on a national itinerary that begins in Antofagasta, moves to Puerto Montt in August and will continue to Concepción in October. The tour is financed by the National Fund for Development of the Performing Arts under the 2026 call of the Ministry and aims to showcase Antofagasta’s theatrical work while highlighting desert life and the resilience of its people.

In a parallel effort, the Ministry’s Regional Arts Promotion Plan is offering a free performance of “S. O. S. Abuela al rescate” by Teatro Sumatoria on 7 August in Chillán’s Sala Schaffer. The play, directed at senior audiences, uses humor to explore family relations and aging. After the show a discussion with the company will be held. “We want to bring performing arts to communities and promote access for all people,” said regional cultural official Nataly De La Hoz Moraga.
