Chile's Education Ministry Extends Winter Break for Schools in Aysén and Magallanes

The Chilean Ministry of Education (Mineduc) released the 2026 school calendar, confirming that most regions will have a two‑week winter recess starting Monday 22 June. The regions of Aysén and Magallanes and the Chilean Antarctic territory will receive an additional week, giving students three weeks off from 29 June to 17 July. The announcement lists start and end dates for each of the country's regions, adjusting the timetable for the first semester.

The extended break aims to align the academic schedule with regional considerations and provides families with a longer holiday period in the southernmost zones.
