Chile's municipalities launch hiring contests and staff representative elections

The I. Municipalidad de Putaendo announced a public competition to fill permanent positions for an Encargado/a de Cultura, Patrimonio y Turismo, a Jefe/a de Personal and an Auxiliary. Applicants must meet legal requirements set out in Law No. 18.883, including Chilean citizenship, appropriate professional qualifications, and clean disciplinary records.

In Valparaíso, the municipal administration scheduled a vote on 6 August for employees to choose their representatives on the Junta Calificadora, the body that oversees performance ratings. Three candidates – Carolina Paz Aránguiz Pagueguy (accounting and long‑time union leader), Paola Alejandra Guzmán Santis (press department with over 30 years of service) and Pricila Cuneo Cepeda (transit department, hired in 2023) – are competing for the two seats.
