Chile's Police Investigations Service Highlights Record Drug Seizures and Regional Security Gains

The Police Investigations Service (PDI) held public accountability meetings in Chile's Aysén and Maule regions. In Aysén, regional head Katherin Rivillo Molina reported historic results for 2025, including more than 45 kg of seized illicit substances, a sharp rise in ketamine seizures (from 105 g to over 855 g), and the interception of a 39.5 kg shipment disguised as a move. The operation led to 316 arrests, most of whom were Chilean, and the recovery of seven firearms. The PDI emphasized the integration of advanced scientific and technological tools to combat evolving crimes such as cyber‑crime and money‑laundering.

In the Maule region, presidential delegate Juan Eduardo Prieto attended the PDI's public account ceremony, praising the agency's work on complex criminal investigations, migration control, and scientific‑technical capacities. He highlighted the PDI's coordination with other state bodies and its high public approval ratings as it marks its 93rd anniversary.
