Chile's SEC and power distributors meet locals over electricity supply

In June 2026, Chile's Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Energy (Seremi), the Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels (SEC) and electricity distributors CGE and Frontel held community meetings in the Valle de Lluta and Traiguén communes. The sessions focused on repeated power outages, service restoration times and upcoming maintenance, while gathering residents' concerns. In Traiguén, Frontel showcased an artificial‑intelligence pilot for low‑voltage network inspection aimed at detecting faults early. Officials including Seremi Carlos Ferrada Cabrera, SEC director Jorge Sandoval, Frontel regional manager Miguel Palacios and Mayor Luis Alvarez pledged to monitor commitments, improve communication and enhance reliability, especially ahead of climatic challenges and growing energy demand.
