Chile's water agencies launch $350M winter sanitation plan and cancel faulty water‑truck contract

Aguas del Valle presented its 2026 Winter Plan to provincial delegate Ivón Guerra in Limarí, outlining more than $350 million in regional investment to prevent sewer blockages during the rainy season. The plan includes preventive cleaning of collectors, permanent digital monitoring with pipe sensors, remote‑controlled video inspections and other technologies to alert the operational control centre of rising flow rates.

In Marga Marga, the presidential provincial delegation led by Gonzalo Azancot terminated the contract with Sociedad Constructora y Transportes M y M Limitada after inspections revealed water was being loaded at an unauthorized point and distributed with insufficient chlorine. GPS tracking of water‑truck routes and on‑site health checks confirmed the violations, prompting a sanitary inquiry, referral to the Public Ministry and measures to maintain water supply for affected families.
