Chili prices rise in Indonesia due to falling production

Chili prices in Indonesia are rising due to decreased production caused by seasonal weather factors. Indonesian Minister of Trade Budi Santoso reported that the average price for bird's eye chili has reached approximately Rp70,000 to Rp81,252 per kg, significantly exceeding the government's reference price of Rp57,000 per kg.

In Pacitan Regency, prices for red bird's eye chili have climbed from Rp40,000 to nearly Rp70,000 per kg. To stabilize the market and manage household expenses, the Pacitan Regency Government is preparing market operations in several districts. Local authorities are also coordinating with suppliers from Magetan, Karanganyar, Madiun, and Tulungagung to increase the local supply.

Regarding other commodities, the Minister noted that chicken egg prices remain around Rp26,800 per kg, which is below the Rp30,000 reference price. The government aims to maintain a balance to ensure prices do not drop so low that they harm poultry farmers' ability to cover production costs.
