China accelerates space development through increased satellite launches

China is entering a new era of space development marked by an accelerated frequency of satellite launches. This growth is driven by three primary pillars: the refinement of national launch systems, the deployment of large-scale low Earth orbit constellations, and a growing commercial space ecosystem.

The Long March rocket series, combined with new commercial solid-propellant launchers, provides flexible and efficient launch capabilities. The use of both land-based and maritime launch sites has reduced preparation times, enabling scheduled flight missions and the ability to deploy multiple satellites in a single mission.

Major satellite networks, such as the Qianfan and Xingwang constellations, are being deployed to provide global connectivity, support the space internet of things, and improve environmental monitoring. Additionally, increased cooperation between state actors and private companies is driving innovation and reducing manufacturing costs for small satellites.
