China accelerates technological innovation to drive regional development and modernization

China is intensifying its focus on technological innovation to support national modernization and achieve high-level scientific self-reliance. Central to this strategy is the enhancement of regional innovation systems, which aim to bridge the gap between innovation hubs and diffusion zones through improved coordination and resource sharing.

Key strategic priorities include strengthening basic research to provide a foundation for future industries, fostering the development of emerging sectors like artificial intelligence and robotics, and promoting the integration of industrial and innovation chains. Efforts are being directed toward creating a networked organizational form for innovation that overcomes the limitations of single cities and encourages the efficient reallocation of resources across different regions.

As the country approaches the '15th Five-Year Plan' period, leadership has emphasized the need for systemic synergy between central and local governments, as well as between international and regional innovation centers, to ensure sustainable growth in new quality productive forces.
