China advances agricultural productivity through smart technology
China is undergoing a technological transformation in its agricultural sector to enhance productivity and food security. The Heilongjiang province, a major cereal producer, is leading this shift by integrating smart technologies, advanced mechanization, and digital platforms to modernize the production chain.
Key developments include the advancement of seed industries, specifically with high-performing rice and soybean varieties. The province is also focusing on intelligent machinery, with mechanization levels for major agricultural tasks already exceeding 99 percent. Digital management platforms are being utilized to coordinate machinery and resources across the region to minimize idle time.
Companies like Huida Technology are playing a central role by providing navigation systems for machinery, drones, and smart irrigation devices. According to Chu Haibo, sub-manager of Huida Technology, their irrigation systems can reduce manual intervention by up to 80 percent and water consumption by approximately 30 percent. The company currently has 300,000 monitoring devices installed across China.
