China advances EV sector with new high-performance models and battery manufacturing

The Chinese automotive industry is seeing significant advancements in electric vehicle (EV) technology and manufacturing automation. The Fang Cheng Bao brand has launched the Formula S, a high-performance EV positioned as a competitor to the Xiaomi SU7. The model features ultra-fast charging capabilities, allowing it to charge from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes, and offers a range of up to 900 kilometers. It includes advanced features such as LiDAR sensors, electromagnetic suspension, and high-power dual-motor all-wheel drive.

Simultaneously, manufacturing capabilities are expanding through large-scale investments. BYD’s FinDreams Battery Xiangyang factory, a 10 billion yuan project, has an annual capacity of 30 GWh. The facility utilizes automated systems to produce Blade Battery technology, employing helium gas for leak testing and specialized drying processes. The industry is also moving toward Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology, where the battery becomes an integrated part of the vehicle's structural chassis rather than a separate component.
