China allocates 180 million yuan for disaster relief and water management

China has allocated 180 million yuan (approximately $26.52 million) from its central disaster relief fund to assist regions affected by natural disasters. The funding targets areas in eastern China facing heavy rainfall and flooding from Typhoon Dolphin, as well as northwestern regions experiencing prolonged drought.

Of the total, 120 million yuan are designated for the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, and Jiangxi to support emergency rescue, evacuations, temporary housing, and infrastructure repairs. The remaining 60 million yuan will support Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang to address water shortages and ensure access to potable water.

In related water management developments, the first phase of China's South-to-North Water Diversion Project has successfully transferred over 90 billion cubic meters of water. This initiative has provided stable water supplies to 48 major cities, benefiting 195 million people and aiding ecological restoration across more than 50 rivers.

Additionally, China's Fengyun meteorological satellites, including the Fengyun-4B and 4C models, are being utilized to monitor Typhoon Dolphin. These satellites provide real-time data on cloud structures and convective activity to assist meteorological authorities in tracking the storm's evolution.
