China and Qatar strengthen energy and diplomatic ties

Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Beijing to discuss strengthening bilateral ties. China expressed its intention to deepen cooperation with Qatar in sectors including traditional and renewable energy, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, finance, and advanced manufacturing.

During the meeting, China voiced its support for Qatar’s role as a mediator in the Middle East. Beijing indicated its willingness to work with Doha and the international community to promote regional peace and stability. This diplomatic engagement occurs as Doha continues efforts to reduce tensions in the region and ensure the security of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy transit route.
