China and US dismantle transnational drug precursor ring

Chinese and American law enforcement agencies have successfully dismantled a transnational criminal operation involving the production and distribution of synthetic cannabinoid precursors. The Chinese Ministry of Public Security and the FBI collaborated after US authorities provided leads regarding two Chinese citizens. In mid-August, Chinese police conducted operations in Hebei and other regions, arresting 21 suspects and seizing various non-regulated chemical precursors used in drug manufacturing.

In a separate incident in Japan, two American women were arrested at Haneda Airport for allegedly smuggling approximately 30 kilograms of dried cannabis from the United States. The drugs, valued at an estimated 150 million yen, were discovered by customs officials concealed within two suitcases. One suspect, Bourbon Castillo Catreon Jamal, reportedly admitted to the act, stating she accepted the task after being promised a reward.
