China-US transnational drug trafficking crackdown

Chinese and American law enforcement agencies have collaborated to dismantle a transnational criminal operation involving synthetic drug precursors. In a related legal development, two Chinese nationals, Lisa Xing and Zhanwen Song, were indicted in the Eastern District of Texas for drug trafficking and money laundering. Prosecutors allege the pair supplied synthetic opioids, cannabinoids, and stimulants from China to domestic distributors in the United States. These substances were reportedly dissolved into liquid and saturated onto sheets of paper, which were then mailed to inmates in federal and state prisons across the country.
