China and US hold third Track 1.5 Dialogue in Beijing
The third China-US Track 1.5 Dialogue was held in Beijing on August 25, organized jointly by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and the US-based Asia Society. Approximately 40 representatives from government departments, local governments, think tanks, academia, and the business community participated in the discussions.
Under the theme ‘Constructive Strategic Stability — Pragmatic Cooperation Between China and the US in the New Era,’ participants engaged in frank and constructive exchanges. Discussions focused on enhancing political mutual trust and expanding cooperation in sectors including economy, trade, artificial intelligence, healthcare, food security, and cultural exchanges.
Liu Haixing, head of the International Department, emphasized the importance of the strategic guidance established during the meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Trump in May. US representatives, including Asia Society Co-Chairman John L. Thornton, noted that the relationship between the world’s two largest economies is at a critical juncture, stressing the need to manage differences and address global challenges through increased communication.
